Sex establishment licence

A sex establishment can be:  

• a sex shop used for selling sex articles (for example books, films) 
• a sex cinema used to show films of an R18 classification  
• a sexual entertainment venue, a place in which live performance, and possible nudity, is provided for an audience to watch - requires a sexual entertainment venue licence.  

To run a sex shop or cinema, you need to have a sex establishment licence. You can apply for a sex establishment licence by emailing licensing@scambs.gov.uk. 

Sexual entertainment venue licence

A sex entertainment venue can be a place in which live performance, and possible nudity, is provided for an audience to watch. 

To run a sex entertainment venue, you need to have a sexual entertainment venue licence. The fee for this licence is: 

• first application for a licence - £3900 
• renewing of a licence - £708
