Mobile/Community Warden Scheme

Express interest in funding for New Mobile Warden Schemes 2024-25

South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) is providing grant funding to expand the provision of the Mobile (Community) Warden Schemes across the District. The aim of this funding (which includes a contribution from Cambridgeshire County Council’s Care Together Seed funding) is to provide increased coverage and more equitable access for people wanting help to support independent living, particularly for elderly or vulnerable residents across the District of South Cambridgeshire.

Mobile and Community Warden Schemes (sometimes called Community Care Schemes) have been set up in South Cambridgeshire to support older people to live independently in their homes and in the community they know, and which knows them.

The warden schemes are complementary to statutory care services and do not duplicate or replace the medical or social care services that individuals may also require. They can help to combat loneliness and social isolation, and can provide significant benefits to clients at relatively low cost. They are seen by clients and their families as a vital community-based service.

For the period 2021 to 2025 we provided grant funding for new and existing schemes across the District, via an application process.

The following Mobile and Community Warden Schemes currently exist.
