New council homes

On this page you can find information about:

  • new homes being built
  • completed developments
  • potential future developments

Some of the new homes will be available as affordable rent properties. Once they are complete, you will be able to register your interest via Home-Link.

The rest of the new homes will be available through a shared ownership scheme. Before these homes are complete, they will be advertised privately.

All of our new homes are built to high specifications and are energy efficient, with double glazed windows. Some homes also have solar panels or are powered by air source heat pumps.

All properties will be advertised through Home-Link a few weeks before their completion. The shared ownership properties are advertised through William H Brown. For further details, please email SCDC@williamhbrown.co.uk.

Northstowe, Phase 2B

Working with developers, Keepmoat, we expect to complete 60 affordable rent properties by Winter 2026. These are made up of:

  • 11 apartments with 1 bedroom
  • 25 apartments with 2 bedrooms
  • 18 houses with 2 bedrooms
  • 4 houses with 3 bedrooms
  • 2 houses with 4 bedrooms

New Road, Over

Working with Hayfield Homes, we expect to complete on 18 affordable properties by Winter 2024. These properties are made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including: 
    • 4 maisonette homes with 1 bedroom
    • 9 houses with 2 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 3 houses with 2 bedrooms
    • 2 houses with 3 bedrooms

Rampton Road, Cottenham

Working with Tillia Homes, we expect to complete 56 affordable homes by Spring 2026. These are made up of:

  • 39 affordable rent properties including:
    • 12 apartments with 1 bedroom
    • 21 houses with 2 bedrooms
    • 4 houses with 3 bedrooms
    • 2 houses with 4 bedrooms
  • 17 shared ownership properties including:
    • 13 houses with 2 bedrooms
    • 4 houses with 3 bedrooms

Teversham Road, Fulbourn

Working with Hill Partnership Limited, we expect to complete 33 affordable homes by Summer 2026. These are made up of:

  • 16 affordable rent properties including:
    • 8 apartments with 1 bedroom
    • 6 apartments with 2 bedrooms
    • 2 houses with 2 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 10 apartments with 2 bedrooms
    • 5 apartments with 3 bedrooms
    • 2 houses with 2 bedrooms

Tudor Meadows, Sawston

Our third development working alongside Redrow Homes. Completion of properties on this site are staggered, with the final properties due to complete by Winter 2028, supplying a total of 47 properties made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including: 
    • 3 maisonette homes with 1 bedroom
    • 3 maisonette homes with 2 bedrooms
    • 13 houses with 2 bedrooms
    • 4 houses with 3 bedrooms
    • 2 houses with 4 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 5 maisonette homes with 1 bedroom
    • 5 maisonette homes with 2 bedrooms
    • 8 houses with 2 bedrooms
    • 4 houses with 3 bedrooms

Currently, 8 shared ownership homes are completed and being advertised through William H Brown.

All properties are now occupied or reserved. 

Meadowcroft Way, Orwell

Working with Ermine Construction, we developed this small Brownfield, South Cambridgeshire District Council owned, site to deliver:

  • affordable rent properties including: 
    • 4 maisonettes with 1 bedroom

This development completed February 2024.

Downing Gardens, Gamlingay

Working alongside Morris Homes, we completed on 34 affordable properties by Winter of 2023. These are made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including:
    • 6 cluster houses with 1 bedroom
    • 8 maisonettes with 1 bedroom
    • 10 houses with 2 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including: 
    • 5 houses with 2 bedrooms
    • 5 houses with 3 bedrooms

All Saints Gardens, Barrington

Working alongside Redrow Homes, we completed on 13 affordable properties Spring 2024. These are made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including:
    • 4 maisonette homes with 1 bedroom
    • 7 houses with 2 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including: 
    • 2 houses with 2 bedrooms

Cottenham Grove, Cottenham

Our second development working alongside Redrow Homes, we completed on 10 affordable properties in Spring 2024. These are made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including:
    • 2 maisonette homes with 1 bedroom
    • 3 houses with 2 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 2 houses with 3 bedrooms
    • 3 houses with 2 bedrooms

Strawberry Farm, Great Abington

Working alongside David Reed Homes, we completed on 3 affordable properties February 2023. These were made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including:
    • 2 semi-detached houses with 2 bedrooms and garages 
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 1 detached house with 3 bedrooms and a garage 

The Hawthorns, Sawston

We completed all homes at this development in April 2023. The scheme was made up of 44 affordable rent and 19 shared ownership homes. These were made up of:

  • affordable rent homes including: 
    • 20 apartments with 1 bedroom
    • 21 apartments with 2 bedrooms
    • 2 houses with 3 bedrooms
    • 1 house with 4 bedroom
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 4 apartments with 1 bedroom
    • 11 apartments with 2 bedrooms
    • 3 houses with 3 bedrooms
    • 1 house with 4 bedrooms

New Road, Melbourn

In November 2022 we completed on 8 Affordable Rent properties developed by Prime Crest Homes Ltd. These were made up of:

  • 4 apartments with 1 bedroom
  • 4 apartments with 2 bedrooms

Boxworth End, Swavesey

In September 2022 we completed on 12 Affordable properties developed by Matthew Homes. These were made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including:
    • 4 apartments with 1 bedroom
    • 4 terraced houses with 2 bedrooms

Mason Road, Waterbeach

Our second development with Matthew Homes completed in October 2022. These were made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including
    • 2 maisonettes with 1 bedroom
    • 4 terraced houses with 2 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including
    • 2 semi-detached homes with 3 bedrooms

High Street, Meldreth

In November 2022, 4 affordable rent homes were completed in High Street, Meldreth by developer Enterprise. These were made up of:

  • affordable rent properties including:
    • 2 semi-detached homes with 2 bedrooms
    • 2 semi-detached homes with 3 bedrooms
  • shared ownership properties including:
    • 3 terraced homes with 2 bedrooms.

We are currently working alongside several developers to acquire further affordable homes across our district.
