East and South East Asian Heritage Month

Banner for ESEA heritage month

Every September, we celebrate East and South East Asian Heritage month. The month celebrates and acknowledges the ways these communities have shaped the UK – and the events, books and media we recommend help us learn even more.

The full calendar of events run by British East and South East Asian month is linked below. These included online art exhibits, book clubs in St. Neots, and a festival at Storey’s Field Centre in Cambridge.

Pride

Pride month June 2024

Pride

Pride month is celebrated every June with parades, festivals and events. It's a visible and joyful occasion aimed at bringing LGBTQ+ people and allies together to have a great time and raise awareness of issues facing the community. This is especially important during times where LGBTQ+ rights are being scrutinised or debated, and hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people are on the rise.

Cambridge Pride took place on Saturday 15 June at Jesus Field. Look out for our review of the day in the South Cambs magazine!

Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month

June is Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) History Month. Every year, we celebrate this month to tackle prejudice, celebrate the achievements of, and amplify the voices of GRT people.

This year's theme was ‘what does family mean to you?’, focusing on the importance of family for GRT communities and exploring the different shapes it can take.
