The decision to designate the Heydon neighbourhood area was made on 15 March 2024 by the Joint Director for Planning and Economic Development.

Heydon Parish Council is currently carrying out a pre-submission consultation of their draft Heydon Neighbourhood Plan which started at 9am on 9 May 2025.
